Nicholson Council Meeting Minutes

June 4, 2018

6:30 P.M. Community Center

Call to Order – 6:30 p.m.

Attending:  Mayor Jan Webster, Council Members –Mike Barfield, Lamar Watkins, Thomas Gary, Dusty Durst, City Clerk-Debra Fontaine, Mainstreet News – Charles Phelps, City Attorney – Jody Campbell

Pledge of Allegiance – All

Minutes: Dusty motioned to approve the May, 2018 Council Meeting Minutes; Lamar seconded. All were in favor. Motion approved.

Financials: Dusty motioned to approve the May 2018 Financials; Thomas seconded. All were in favor. Motion approved.

NEW BUSINESS:

Adopt Fee Schedule for Planning & Development – Mike motioned to adopt fee schedule for Planning & Development, Dusty seconded.   Motion approved.

Softline Data – Softline Data gave the city a quote of $275 that offers the city to send “Public Alert” notices to all garbage customers (and/or residents) in our system.  Dusty motioned that we accept Softline Data quote, Thomas seconded.  Motion approved.

Budget Policy – The city discussed adopting a Budget Policy since the city does not currently have one. After discussion the decision was made to table the policy until further research can be done.  Mike motioned to table the Budget Policy, Dusty seconded.   All were in favor. Motion to table a Budget Policy was approved.

OLD BUSINESS:  No old business

MAYORS REPORT: 

• Jan reminded council members how great the Benton Facility is going. She bragged on Dusty’s handy work for the new conference table. She also let council members know that John Boyd is working with Windstream on the phone lines and internet and most of this is close to completion including printer set up and moving old printers to Planning & Development room. Jan invited all to come take a tour.
