MAYORS REPORT:
• Jan reminded council members that the city needed to submit the winner of the 2018 Scholarship Award. All but one council member read all of the submissions and the first pick was unanimously Jordan White. Jan asked Debbie to contact the school and give notice. She also let council members know that Senior Honors Night will be at the school Wednesday May 9th at 6:30PM. Since Jan has a previous commitment she asked if Mike Barfield would be able to attend and grant the scholarship on behalf of the city; Mike agreed to do so.
• Jan told council members that all RFP’s are in from Architects and the Benton Committee will be meeting this week to look over the submissions. Once they have had time to look over and discuss their choice will be submitted to the city to consider.
• The Auditors have completed the City of Nicholson Audit; Jan and Debbie will be meeting with Alexander, Almand & Bangs the week of the 21st of May.
• Jan spoke to Ricky Sanders from Jackson County Park & Rec and he is excited about moving forward with an IGA with the city. She mentioned that he would like to extend the amount of time in the contract since they plan to put money into the gym.
• EMT from Jackson County spoke to Jan at the Daisy Festival and is interested in teaching a CPR class to the Nicholson staff. Jan asked council if they would be in agreement with that and all agreed it would be beneficial.
