Call to Order – 6:30 p.m.
Attending: Mayor Jan Webster -Council Members – Thomas Gary, Josh Burkhalter, Interim City Clerk- Irma Robles, City Attorney Jody Campbell, Not present: Lamar Watkins, Mike Barfield (due to a family emergency in Florida), Library Manager Rhonda O’Keeffe and Sherry Lewis – Mainstreet News (was emailed on 5/10/2022 with information)

Minutes: Thomas motioned to approve April 4, 2022, Council Meeting Minutes; Josh seconded. All were in favor. Minutes approved.
Financials: Josh motioned to approve April 2022 Financials; Thomas seconded. All were in favor. The motion was approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
- New Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) to Conduct Elections – Thomas motioned to approve the New Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) to Conduct Elections; Josh seconded.
All were in favor; the motion was approved.
- IWorQ – Cemetery, and Code Enforcement Agreement – Mayor Webster mentioned that the City needs a software to keep Cemetery and Code Enforcement records and this company offers these two services for a reasonable price. Thomas mentioned that he was told at the Small Cities Conference in Dublin GA that the Regional Commission could help the City Cemetery with the mapping location at no charge for the City. Thomas motioned to approve the proposed agreement from iWorQ; Josh seconded. All were in favor; the motion was approved.
- 2022 Scholarship Applications – City Council has been reading through both applications for the scholarship award: Josh mentioned that Kayden Massey has been accepted at Augusta University. Thomas mentioned that Kayden Massey has excellent scores too. Josh made a motion to choose Kayden Massey; Thomas seconded the motion. All were in favor; the motion was approved. Kayden Massey is the recipient of the annual $1000 East Jackson High School Scholarship.

LIBRARIANS REPORT: N/A (Rhonda not present)
MAYORS REPORT:
Jan mentioned the following for Mayor’s Report:
- Mayor Webster and Thomas Gary attended the GMA Small Cities Conference in Dublin, GA, and shared the wonderful experience with other small cities in Georgia. They learned more about ARPA funds.
- Daisy Pageant: This event was a huge success and she appreciated the hard work from Mechelle, Gwen, Kimi, Thomas, and Dusty.
- Daisy Festival Update: Irma mentioned that a total of 43 Craft and 9 Food Vendors have signed up for this year’s Daisy Festival. The committee would like to have more vendors next year and Doyle is working on this.
CITIZENS REQUESTING TO SPEAK –
David Crawford raised concern over handicapped parking spaces not marked at the Benton Parking lot and Mayor Webster mentioned that the City already took bids for the project and the job is scheduled at the end of May 2022.
