Nicholson Council Meeting Minutes
Tuesday – November 1, 2021 6:30 P.M. Community Center
Call to Order – 6:30 p.m.
Attending: Mayor Jan Webster -Council Members – Thomas Gary, Dusty Durst, Lamar Watkins, Mike Barfield, Debbie Fontaine-City Clerk, Sherry Lewis – Mainstreet News, City Attorney-Jody Campbell
Pledge of Allegiance – All
Minutes: Dusty motioned to approve October 4, 2021 Council Meeting Minutes, Lamar seconded. All present were in favor, Minutes approved.
Financials: Dusty motioned to approve October 2021 Financials, Thomas seconded. All present were in favor. Motion was approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
· 2022 Proposed Budget – Final Reading & Adoption – Dusty motioned to approve Proposed 2022 Budget, Lamar seconded. A vote was taken, all present were in favor. Motion was approved.
· NWA – City Appointment of Water Board Member – Thomas motioned for the reappointment of John Ring on the Nicholson Water Board; Dusty seconded. A vote was taken, all were in favor. Motion was approved.
· Retreat Date – TBD – council will submit dates and a date will be determined accordingly.
OLD BUSINESS:
· Amendment to Zoning Ordinance – The amendments to Zoning Ordinance will bring it into compliance with current Nicholson Zoning Districts. A motion was made by Thomas Gary for Jody Campbell & Jerry Weitz to proceed with (prepare and initiate for public hearing) adopting items 5 – 12 (removing #1-4 & #7) ; Dusty seconded. All were in favor, motion was approved.
MAYORS REPORT:
· Jan reminded all to invite friends, family, and neighbors to Veterans Day Celebration on November 7th at 3:00 P.M.
· Also reminded everyone that tomorrow is Election Day.
· Need to set a date for Christmas Tree Lighting after the 13th of November.
· Pre-closing for USDA will be Tuesday November 9th 2021 and closing date is scheduled for November 12, 2021
LIBRARIANS REPORT: Per Library Manager
- Halloween Boo Bags we had approximately 100 children stop by
- Because of rain, we delivered Boo Bags to Candy Castle
- Friends of the Nicholson Library Quilters Group Quilt for kids
Veterans
Work with Senior Citizens
Quilt for library for Daisy Festival
- Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Nicholson Library on Dec 7 from 6-8 PM
- Sherri and Kierra volunteered at the SJES for the school’s Fall Festival
- We have already started working on Summer Reading 2022. The theme is oceanic.
- Raffling off a Madame Alexander baby for Christmas. $1 a ticket.
